This report presents the results of archeological investigations at the Fletcher's Boathouse Site (51NW13) in Washington, DC, located within the C&O Canal National Historical Park (Figure 1.1). Investigations included survey and identification fieldwork related to construction of a drainage system from the Abner Cloud House, parking lot improvements, and construction of a handicap access ramp leading from the Capital Crescent Trail down to the boathouse grounds east of the canal. Subsequently, data recovery excavations were conducted within the concrete landing footprint of the ramp to be constructed from the Capital Crescent Trail (adjacent to the towpath) down to the grounds of the Fletcher's Boathouse area. URS Corporation (formerly URS Greiner Woodward Clyde) conducted the work for the National Park Service (NPS) as a means to partly mitigate adverse effects resulting from the construction and associated landscaping to be carried out in building the ramp.
