The Seneca Creek Aqueduct of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal is a three-arch stone structure that was formerly used to carry the canal across Seneca Creek. It was constructed using Seneca red stone and it constitutes a historic structure at the Seneca Camp Grounds and recreation area. High water in the Seneca Creek in September 1971 caused the failure of the western arch and loss of all but the north parapet over the old arch. On October 6, 1971, Underwater Advisors was requested to inspect and report on the underwater structure of Seneca Creek Aqueduct of the C & O Canal. Results of that inspection and recommendations are provided in this document.
