This report was created for the planned rehabilitation of Lock House #16, which is located approximately 13.6 miles northwest of Georgetown along the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. It was intended to be used as a residence, preferably by an employee of the National Park Service to ensure its proper maintenance and protection. The lock house was built in 1837. It is a 18' by 30' stone lock house with three floors and a chimney at each end. The report sections provide administrative data, historical data, architectural details, and archeological data. It includes photographs representing different time periods (1900, 1939, 1959), measured drawings, expense estimates, and area maps.
