In 2016, the Chimney Tops 2 Fire occurred in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. During October 2018, soil samples were collected from pine-oak forest within and outside of the fire perimeter. The soils were tested for macronutrient content, pH, hydrophobicity, porosity, and duff height. The study’s purpose was to determine the effects of high severity wildfire on soil quality in pine-oak forests in the park.
