The Chamorros of the Mariana Islands: Early European Records, 1521-1721

Barratt G. 2003. The Chamorros of the Mariana Islands: Early European Records, 1521-1721. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Division of Historic Preservation

Research book on the Chamorro people that includes Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands. From Preface: "This compilation of original accounts is intended to encourage that examination, and to make it easier. The texts cover the first two hundred years (1521-1721) of Chamorro-European contact, steering clear of the missionary and Jesuit sources, which deserve another book." Project funding was provided by a Historic Preservation Fund grant to the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Historic Preservation Office, administered by the Interior Regions 8, 9, 10, and 12, National Park Service, U.S. Department of Interior.
