Recent deposits produced by volcanic activity and mass movement phenomena in Lassen Volcanic National Park display a range of granulometric and morphologic characteristics that can be related to the processes that emplaced them. Deposits of interest include the volcanic blast deposits and three volcanic mudflow deposits associated with the 1914-1917 eruptions of Lassen Peak, and the Chaos Jumbles rock-fall avalanche deposit which was emplaced during the collapse of a volcanic dome at the Chaos Crags. Each of these deposits has a distinctly different distribution, deposit morphology and grain size characteristics, and each appears to have been transported by different processes.
