A survey of wintering Short-eared Owls was conducted in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains National Park following continuing reports of multiple individuals along the Hyatt Lane area of Cades Cove. Volunteers were recruited to conducted the survey on the late afternoon and early evening hours of January 20, 2018. Seventeen fields were surveyed by 25 personnel and reported 4 Short-eared Owls in the areas surveyed.
