This report documents a comprehensive examination of C & O Canal Lock House #11 with a view to correcting structural deficiencies that might be necessary or advisable to insure preservation of the structure. The intent was to authentically restore the exterior and restore the interior to a degree, with remodeling and alterations necessary to convert the present plan to acceptable quarters. The inspection was performed by report author Russell Jones (Branch of Restorations, Office of Archeology and Historic Preservation), Superintendent Floyd Taylor, Ray Borras, Don Clawsen of the Office of Design and Construction, and Building Restoration Specialist Harry V. Martin. The examination includes building description, general conditions and recommendations for sections of the structure, cost estimate for restoration and remodeling, and photographs of existing conditions.
