This report contains administrative, historical, architectural, archeological, landscape, and furnishings data on Lock House #10 of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. It was planned that the lock house would be refurbished and reconstructed, then rented to a small family in order to provide adequate maintenance and protection of the building as part of the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. Lock House #10, about 8 miles northwest of Georgetown, was constructed in 1830 according to 1828 specifications for Lock Keepers Houses. At the time of the report, it was one of the few remaining typical lock houses along the historic canal. It was selected for restoration and rehabilitation as part of the Mission 66 program, partly because of its proximity and ease of access to the new George Washington Memorial Parkway. Construction methods and materials are described. The restoration of this lock house follows the same pattern as that of Lock House #7, completed in 1938-39.
