This Historic Structures Report contains information about Lock House #8 on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, approximately 8 miles northwest of the Georgetown terminus of the Canal. It was scheduled for rehabilitation and remodeling, probably to be occupied by a small family. This includes a revised Project Construction Proposal, updated from the May 1963 proposal which initially called for restoration of Lock House 8. This includes the requirements, proposed work and construction dates, and justification. Historical Data section describes the "Specifications of a Lock Keepers House" issued by the Canal Company, which formed the basis for contract proposals for the houses, as well as details specific to Lock House #8. The Architectural Data section describes existing conditions and proposed construction. Archeological and landscape data sections include existing conditions and proposed work.
