This study examines the history of the Maryland Heights area of Harpers Ferry National Historic Park, along with detailed archaeological information. The study describes three periods of the land's use, corresponding to its industrial ironworks in the years before the Civil War, fortifications and campsites during the Civil War, and homesteads built during and after the Civil War.
