This report describes the condition of the Conococheague Aqueduct in 1973 and proposed restoration work to replace the aqueduct in kind. The aqueduct had lost its upstream parapet wall, upstream spandrel wall on two and a half of the three spans, and a 6-foot wide section of arch barrel over two spans of its upstream side. The remaining structure was in fair condition. The proposed restoration work is the strengthening of the arch by construction of a reinforced concrete arch inside the existing arch. Photographs (1970) and cost estimates are included. A major cost item would be replacement of the missing soffitt, spandrel, and parapet masonry if the stones were not recoverable from the stream bed.
