This report describes the historical context and physical condition of the Brawner Farm House at Manassas National Battlefield. The Brawner Farm was central to the Second Battle of Manassas during the Civil War. The report recommends rehabilitation and use of the farmhouse as a point of contact for park visitors. This report is presented as an addendum to an earlier 1985 HSR for the same structure. Archival research, archeological site work, and architectural material investigation shed light on some of the chronological issues in the construction sequence of the structure. However, the condition of the structure has also eroded since it was recorded by the NPS in 1987. The goal of this HSR is to present any new findings as a result of the most recent analysis and to provide a more fully integrated narrative that describes the extant structure as it is understood at that point in time. Secondary goals are to verify previous architectural fabric analysis and to provide adequate documentation that meets NPS standards.
