This report describes the physical condition and historical context for the Lockkeeper's House on the National Mall. The house was originally constructed to house the lockkeeper at the connection between the C & O Canal and the Washington City Canal. It was abandoned in the late 19th century and relocated and renovated in 1915. The report offers several treatment options, including a planned treatment which would relocate the house again, restore the exterior and rehabilitate the interior.
