This document defines what types of objects and records the Lightship Chesapeake will maintain in its museum collections, as well as describing the ship's collection goals and the laws and regulations that pertain to these collections. The document is intended to guide the ship in maintaining its collections by defining what the Lightship Chesapeake collections should and should not accept. The Lightship Chesapeake is owned by the NPS National Capital Region and administered by the National Mall and Memorial Parks. It has been on loan to the City of Baltimore since 1981 and docked in Baltimore's Inner Harbor since 1982.
