Sediment data was collected as part of a toxicological evaluation of dredging spoils and offshore disposal required by the Marine Protection, Research and Sanctuaries Act of 1972. The sediment samples were collected by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England Division, and analyzed by EnviroSystems, Incorporated, 1992. Sediment samples were collected at nine locations in the Saugus River and composited into three locations (C, D, and G); the Massachusetts Bay Disposal Site reference location (42 22.70' North by 70 30.30' West); and the Hampton, New Hampshire estuary. The estuary has been a collection site for control sediments for over 10 years. The sediment collected from the Saugus River, disposal site, and the estuary were used to complete 10 day bioassay tests using the amphipod, Ampelicsa abdita.
