This study examines the history of the General Comte de Rochambeau statue in Lafayette Park. Jean-Baptiste-Donatien de Vimeur, Comte de Rochambeau, commanded the French army during the American Revolution. The study provides a brief biography of Rochambeau and examines the creation of the Rochambeau statue in the political context of Franco-American relations following the Spanish-American War.
