This study covers the history of the William T. Sherman statue in Washington, D.C. Sherman was a Union general during the Civil War, famous for his march from Atlanta to Savannah, Georgia. The monument was designed by Carl Rohl-Smith, who died midway through sculpting the statues, and eventually completed and dedicated in 1903.
