This document defines what types of objects and records the National Mall and Memorial Parks (NAMA) will maintain in its museum collections, as well as describing collection goals and the laws and regulations that pertain to these collections. The document is intended to guide NAMA in maintaining its collections by defining what the NAMA collections should and should not accept. NAMA's general collection includes records from the National Mall and all of the memorial parks except the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Ford's Theatre National Historic Site and Lightship Chesapeake, each of which have their own collections.
