This document defines what types of objects and records the Civil War Defenses of Washington (CWDW) will maintain in its museum collections, as well as describing CWDW collection goals and the laws and regulations that pertain to these collections. The document is intended to guide the unit in maintaining its collections by defining what the CWDW collections should and should not accept. The CWDW includes several parks built on the sites of Civil War-era forts and batteries surrounding Washington, D.C.
