The North Coastal Water Quality Surveys were conducted in selected inshore and tidal riverine areas of Salem, Beverly, Marblehead, Manchester, and Gloucester. A total of 65 water quality stations, 28 sediment stations, and 4 compliance monitoring sites were sampled. The following surveys were conducted during the period of June 22-September 3, 1987: Three two-day surveys in the Salem/Beverly, Marblehead area, one one-day survey in Manchester Harbor and one three-day survey in Gloucester. In addition, four one-day surveys were conducted in Beverly Harbor during February, March, and May 1988 to monitor water quality after a sewer pipe broke in the harbor.
