This report is one of several on historic structures in the Dungeness Historic District of Cumberland Island National Seashore, containing the architectural data section for the Recreation/Guest House in the Dungeness Historic District. This includes a description of the structure's history, features, and condition, along with an impact analysis and recommendations for treatment. It is recommended that repairs be made to the exterior of the entire building complex with essential interior reinforcement. The work would including trimming and pruning of the original trees and identification and marking of tennis courts and game areas. The structure would serve as an exhibit-in-place to interpret the elaborate way of life and recreational history at the Dungeness estate. The building was probably constructed in several stages, with the first perhaps completed around 1900. It is in the category of the Shingle Style. The appearance of the structure at the time of the report is probably unchanged, both interior and exterior, from its appearance following construction of the final addition in the early 1900s.
