This plan addresses the buildings within Cuyahoga Valley National Recreation Area to aid in determining which should remain and what their future uses should be. Most are houses, and there also farmsteads, barns, commercial buildings, and cabins. The focus of this study is on the buildings for which the park was responsible. Objectives outlined in this report address the recreational goals for the area as they relate to the use of the buildings. The park aimed to develop facilities and settings to provide for a wide variety of year round passive and active recreational activities. Buildings were inventoried to determine if they had historical significance, scene setting value, public use potential, or potential for administrative uses. The Building Utilization Committee identified buildings with significant historic value or public use potential. Recommendations for each building are made based upon a specific set of factors. These recommendations fall into four categories: visitor use, park operations, leasing, or removal. These groups are accompanied by a location map giving both the proposed use and building names, along with each building's long term utilization goals.
