This report is an accounting of the historic buildings within the proposed boundaries of the Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area. The individual reports are brief, due to the private ownership of the buildings at the time of investigation. The intent of the report is to provide a basis for the evaluation of older, potential historic buildings, especially those endangered by the proposed construction of the Tocks Island Dam. Buildings were also investigated out of deference to previous investigations and local interest. Souder contends that the area's connection with nationally known figures and decisive historic events is slender. Instead, the area's architectural value is in providing representative samples for local styles and types. Souder also points to the potential for older architectural styles to be hidden from immediate survey by modern additions.
