This is a structural report on the Fort Jefferson National Monument in Dry Tortugas National Park. Manucy's report gives examples of common unstable masonry, subsidence, and iron exfoliation throughout the fort. While the fort is considered dangerous in its current condition, the report contends that the fort is too massive to be demolished and rebuilt. At the time of the investigation, structural failure did not seem imminent, so long as the structure was periodically checked and minor fixes were addressed. The report includes twenty photographs and one technical drawing.
