This document is a composite of various reports created in FY 2004 concerning the preservation, stabilization, and rehabilitation of Fort Jefferson. The constituent reports include: SHPO Comments on the Historic Structures Report Amendment for Fort Jefferson, Stabilization of Fort Jefferson contract documents, Project Manual for Preservation and Stabilization of Fort Jefferson Phase II, Stabilization/Rehabilitation of Fort Jefferson Phase I Construction Specifications, and Stabilization of Fort Jefferson Value Based Decision Inventory. The work described consists primarily of demolition and salvage of deteriorated masonry at lower level embrasures, removal of deteriorated lower level embrasure ironwork, and rebuilding lower level embrasures and associated masonry walls. The masonry technology, its configuration, and the Totten shutter were identified as primary character defining features of the scarp wall to be preserved and rehabilitated through the work.
