Historic Structures Report, Part II (Portion): The Conservatory, Glenmont (Bldg. 10)
Weig MJ and Whittington G. 1965. Historic Structures Report, Part II (Portion): The Conservatory, Glenmont (Bldg. 10). Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service
The Conservatory was one of the early additions to Glenmont, likely added before the Edisons made their residence there. The thorough examination required in preparation of this report convinced the writer that by properly shoring and supporting the room, all decayed and damaged components can be repaired or replaced without disturbing a high percentage of the original woodwork. The report gives a brief administrative and historical data section. The historical data section traces the development of the Conservatory room. The architectural data section goes element by element, detailing the existing condition and recommending next steps.
