Historic Structures Report, Part I: Reports on Physical Condition and Recommendations for Emergency and Complete Rehabilitation of Chemical Laboratory and Leanto Appendages (Bldg. 2, 2A, 2B, 2C)
Whittington G. 1961. Historic Structures Report, Part I: Reports on Physical Condition and Recommendations for Emergency and Complete Rehabilitation of Chemical Laboratory and Leanto Appendages (Bldg. 2, 2A, 2B, 2C). Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service
This report concerns the Edison Laboratory (Bldg. 2) and its attendant leantos. The complex is the most popular site with visitors to the monument, as it allows for interpreters to communicate the scientific history and process of Edison. The report finds that the building and leantos, however, are degraded, requiring the replacement of roof coverings, repair of doors and windows and frames, repointing of brick work, repairs to wood framing and sheathing, repainting of interior walls and woodwork, and removal of the thick growth of Boston Ivy.
