This report assesses and describes building number 3 of the Edison Laboratory complex, the Chemical Storage room and Pattern Shop. The structure was first erected in 1887 and served as storage for chemical supplies and combination carpentry and pattern shop. While the chemical contents were empties in 1941, most of the Edison period tools and equipment remain the in the Pattern Shop, some of which are still in use. The structural analysis supplied in lieu of a formal Architectural Data Section identified necessary rehabilitation actions such as repair and repainting of the windows and doors, installation of a new roof comparable to the historical one, new lead-coated copper gutters and leaders simulating the old in appearance, removal of Boston Ivy growth, extensive carpentry repairs, and complete masonry repairs and repointing.
