The Power House-Boiler Room, Building 6 of the Edison Laboratory complex, served as the Laboratory group heating and power plant. Equipment used in the building remained in place, however, until about 1933, when a good part of it was removed to Henry Ford's Greenfield Village at Dearborn, Michigan. The report found the exterior of the building so deteriorated that immediate steps were suggested for its thorough rehabilitation to the maximum possible extent. All brickwork of the outside walls requires repair, raking out of loose mortar, and repointing of joints. Badly corroded steel windows and doors must be repaired completely and then repainted, along the lines of like work already accomplished on most of the other Laboratory structures.
