The purpose of this study is to provide the historical data necessary for a partial and adaptive restoration of the cultural resources at Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Val-Kill). First constructed in 1926, Val-Kill was the estate where Eleanor Roosevelt lived permanently after Franklin D. Roosevelt's death in 1945. This report gives a history of the site structure-by-structure, detailing the changes in architecture, use, and administration from its construction to its declaration as a National Historic Site in 1977. The report also includes photographs and architectural drawings.
