Historic Structure Report, Architectural Data Section: The Stone Cottage

Pearson BE. 1980. Historic Structure Report, Architectural Data Section: The Stone Cottage. Historic Structure Report. U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. Boston, Massachusetts

The purpose of this study is to record the existing conditions at, and to make recommendations for the preservation/restoration of, the stone cottage at Val-Kill, the Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (ELRO NHS), Hyde Park, New York. The report includes an architectural history of the site, an existing conditions assessment of the exterior, interior, and mechanical systems, finishes analyses of the exterior and interior, mortar analysis, and recommendations for restoration and reuse. The recommendations in this report are based on the 1962 target preservation/restoration date proposed in the General Management Plan. Restoration/preservation to this period primarily will involve repair and stabilization, since few alterations were made to the cottage after 1962.
