This report concerns the Enlisted Men's Barracks (HB-21) of the Fort Davis National Memorial. In operation from 1854-1891, Fort Davis serves as one of the greatest examples of a typical frontier military outpost of the U.S. military in the 19th century. HB-21 was constructed in August 1869, primarily from adobe, as local timber sources were quickly thinning. This report suggests that the Enlisted Men's Barracks be restored and furnished according to the historic period and subsequently be opened to visitors.
