Originally established as a private fur trading fort in 1834, Fort Laramie evolved into the largest and best known military post on the Northern Plains before its abandonment in 1890. This “grand old post” witnessed the entire sweeping saga of America’s western expansion and Indian resistance to encroachment on their territories. This report is a continuation of Preliminary Report: Rehabilitation of the Sutler's Store, 1951. Its purpose is to record work accomplished during 1952 and 1953 on the Sutler's Store by crews also employed on other rehabilitation projects. Primarily, the work detailed includes the repair and restoration of interior wood work, as well as repair and restoration of walls and other major structural units. The report includes photographic documentary materials of the work performed.
