Fort Hancock is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area. On the entire peninsula of Sandy Hook, there are approximately 300 structures reflecting Light House Board, Lifesaving Service, and United States Army activity from 1764 through the 1970s. These structures are of varying levels of historic and architectural significance. This Historic Structure Assessment Report surveys the 2 Ambulance Garage (Bldg. 323) at Fort Hancock, providing photographs, floor plans, statements of deficiency, and preservation recommendations. This building was built in 1925, shares electricity with the adjacent Garage (Bldg. 322), and is situated in the hospital building parking area. It appears, due to its abutment to the west wall of building #322, that this building has been relocated to this site.
