Fort Hancock is part of the Sandy Hook Unit of the Gateway National Recreation Area. On the entire peninsula of Sandy Hook, there are approximately 300 structures reflecting Light House Board, Lifesaving Service, and United States Army activity from 1764 through the 1970s. These structures are of varying levels of historic and architectural significance. This Historic Structure Assessment Report surveys the Hospital Ward (Bldg. 352) at Fort Hancock, providing photographs, floor plans, statements of deficiency, and preservation recommendations. This building was built for use as a hospital ward in 1941. It is not considered to be significant to the period of the site and is classified as a D the LCS. Building #352 is scheduled for demolition.
