Assessing Alpine Ecosystem Vulnerability to Environmental Change Using Dall Sheep as an Iconic Indicator Species (2016-2018); Critical snow density threshold for Dall sheep (Ovis dalli dalli)

Prugh LR, Sivy KJ, Nolin AW, Cosgrove CL. Assessing Alpine Ecosystem Vulnerability to Environmental Change Using Dall Sheep as an Iconic Indicator Species (2016-2018); Critical snow density threshold for Dall sheep (Ovis dalli dalli). Research Permit and Reporting System

The overarching goal of our study was to address the question: How are vegetation and snow conditions changing in alpine ecosystems throughout the ABoVE (NASA) domain, and how do these changes impact iconic northern wildlife and critical ecosystem services? Snow cover can significantly impact animal movement and energetics, yet few studies have investigated the link between physical properties of snow and energetic costs.
