Glen Canyon National Recreation Area for hundreds of miles, from Lees Ferry in Arizona to the Orange Cliffs of southern Utah, encompassing scenic vistas, geologic wonders, and a vast panorama of human history. This report documents the Year 4 stabilization work undertaken at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (GLCA) during the spring of 1987. As a result of this work, initial comprehensive stabilization was performed on two sites, James Granary/42SA18352 and the Navajo Canyon Shelter/AZ C-3-8; maintenance stabilization was conducted at Rappel Ruin/ 42SA683 and Lee's Ferry; and prestabilization documentation/stabilization assessments were performed at three sites, Mi stake Alcove/42SA635, Crumbling Kiva/42SA597, and Copter Ledge/42SA678. In addition, protective coverings were constructed over the roofs of two structures at Defiance House/42SA598. The primary goals of this project were the preservation and protection of those sites where stabilization and maintenance were performed, and to gain an understanding of the preservation needs at the sites that were assessed. The stabilization tasks implemented during the project were aimed at placing each site in a structurally sound condition and deterring future forms of deterioration. All work performed was completed in such a manner so as to maintain each site's integrity and potential for contributing to the public and professional communities' education and appreciation.
