The decline of mammal populations in Everglades National Park (ENP) over the last 20 years is likely to influence the ecology of the Greater Everglades ecosystem. We used live-trapping on tree islands at Rock Reef Pass and Chekika to determine community composition and density both spatially and temporally. Our focal species were: marsh rice rat (Oryzomys palustris), hispid cotton rat (Sigmodon hispidus), and cotton mouse (Peromyscus gossypinus).
