The Herbert Hoover National Historic Site preserves the childhood home of Herbert Hoover, commemorating the early life of the 31st President. This Historic Structures Preservation Guide has been prepared in compliance with the "National Park Service Cultural Resources Management Guidelines (NPS-28)," which requires that such a document be prepared when a historic structure has received its ultimate treatment. The purpose of this document is to provide personnel at Herbert Hoover National Historic Site with an organized system for budget programming, continued housekeeping, and routine and cyclic maintenance of the historic structures and grounds associated with the park. It is intended as an aid to park maintenance staff to facilitate the maintenance of the resources. It contains detailed schedules and instructions relative to maintenance procedures and will ensure consistency in the materials and procedures.
