The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site preserves Springwood, the birthplace, lifelong home, and burial site of Franklin D. Roosevelt. This historic structures report concerns the repair of the roof of the Springfield house. The Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt is operated as a historic house since 1946. It is proposed to reroof the central, flat portion of the roof and to repair the east portico roof. Work on the main roof is to consist of taking up the existing balustrade, removing the present builtup roof, repairing as neccessary the sheathing underneath installing a new 4-ply builtup roof with applications of hot asphalt.
