The Forks of the Road Bridge located in Natchez National Historical Park, Natchez, Mississippi is important for its association with the history of Natchez, the historic location of the Forks of the Road slave market, and as an example of regional brick masonry bridge construction dating to circa 1888. The goal of the Historic Structure Report (HSR) is to develop planning information for use in the repair, maintenance, and preservation of historically significant buildings and structures. This HSR addresses key issues specific to the Forks of the Road Bridge, including the history and construction chronology of the structure, the existing physical condition of materials, and the historic significance and integrity of the structure. The purpose of Natchez National Historical Park is to preserve and interpret the complex history and material culture of all of the peoples of Natchez, Mississippi, emphasizing European settlement, African enslavement, the American cotton economy, and the civil rights struggle on the lower Mississippi River.
