Samples of volcanic rock were collected in order to investigate the role of chromite and magnetite in the crystallization of basalt from the Snake River Plain. Samples were collected from the Craters of the Moon National Monument, Hell's Half Acre, Wapi, Shoshone, McKinney flow and from various locations overlooking the Snake River.
