The purpose of this project was to prepare historic preservation maintenance guides for sixteen structures at the Grant-Kohrs Ranch National Historic Site. These guides are a beginning in the development of historic preservation maintenance guides for all of the structures at the Grant-Kohrs Ranch. Maintenance of historic structures is important in order to determine causes of deterioration in the structure and provide solutions that will keep the building from further deterioration. With continued maintenance the historic fabric of the structure is kept from deterioration, thus keeping the character of the structure intact and reducing the needless expense of restoration. The process for the development of historic preservation maintenance guides for the Grant-Kohrs Ranch was divided into four categories: documentation, maintenance forms, specifications, and Park building files.
