This standard operating procedure (SOP) provides instruction for establishing plots and collecting site-level information during both initial and revisit sampling years. Prior to establishing any plots, the community ecologist must ensure plot locations and marking procedures are approved by the natural resource manager at each park. These procedures may vary by park in response to individual park requirements. The datasheet for plot establishment is SFCN Veg Form 1—Forest Vegetation Plot Establishment and the datasheet for site-level measurements is SFCN Veg Form 2—Site Characteristics. Both datasheets are included in Appendix A of this SOP.
