Contribution on the marmots in the High Tatra Mountains

In this article, historical data on the occurrence of Tatra mountain marmots (Marmota marmota latirostris) in the High Tatras are processed from the first written record to the present day. Reasons for a decline in marmot numbers in the past are given as well as the development of measures for protection and maintenance of this species at a favourable conservation status in the mountains of Slovakia.
