This standard operating procedure (SOP) provides instructions for summarizing, conducting analyses, and producing reports for South Florida/Caribbean Network (SFCN) forest monitoring data. The South Florida/Caribbean Network uses linear models to analyze trends in plant species, guilds, woody stem composition, and other selected vegetation and abiotic metrics. The network also examines forest vegetation changes using multivariate analytics for comparisons among network and other regional parks, forest vegetation types, and reference plots from other databases. Two primary reports with in-depth analyses are generated from this monitoring effort. The first type is the Focal Forest Monitoring Event and Status Report, and the second type is the Status and Trends in Focal Forest Report. Both reports are published on the National Park Service’s Integrated Resource Management Application (IRMA) Data Store within one year of the most recent round of data collection. Annual Resource Briefs will be developed following each sampling event for a given park. The results will also be used in other publications.
