Harpers Ferry National Historical Park preserves historic resources and commemorates the historic events that occurred at and around Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The park consists of portions of the Lower Town, the former Storer College campus, landscapes associated with the national historical park’s Civil War significance, and lands preserving the historic viewshed down the Potomac River. This Architectural Survey Report concerns the Building 36 in Lower Town, Harpers Ferry. Building Number 36, presently called the Paymaster's House, is a part of the original Armory-Arsenal group. At the time of the report, the building is in use as a visitor center and provides space for the administrative offices of the monument. The report details the proposed method for heating the structure with special consideration given to avoiding undesirable alterations to structural and design features of the building.
