This Historic Structures Report concerns the Jones Point Lighthouse in the George Washington Memorial Parkway. The existing Jones Point Lighthouse, its grounds, well, and outhouse are to be restored, preserved, and interpreted as a historic house museums. The Jones Point Lighthouse is one of the few historic island lighthouses which have no been destroyed or adapted to modern service. As such, it represents well the national trend beginning in the 1850s toward the Federal improvement of the navigation and physical condition of the inland rivers and harbors of the United States.
