Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park protects some of the most unique geological, biological, and cultural landscapes in the world. Extending from sea level to 13,677 feet, the park encompasses the summits of two of the world's most active volcanoes - Kīlauea and Mauna Loa. Since its construction sometime before 1817, the site known as the Wahaula Temple has been neglected. Time and frequent earthquakes have taken their toll on all the walls. This structure and other associated structures–especially the site the author suspects to be the older temple site, constructed by Faso in 1273–will have to be cleared of all rubble for proper interpretation and investigation. This report gives recommendations for stabilization.
